On Wednesday, February 3, 2016, Pillsbury Pedal Power and MPS Safe Routes to School presented at the Winter Cycling Congress (WCC) by leading a nine-mile mobile bicycle tour. Participants in the session included WCC delegates from Finland, Winnipeg, Wichita and Portland. Local and state leaders were also in the mix. Pillsbury Pedal Power started the session with safety and group biking instructions and reminded us to have grit if the going got tough. When we arrived at the school, Safe Routes to School staff shared a bit about MPS efforts and the students shared some of their wisdom and accomplishments. Later in the day, the students were spontaneously called on to lead the public bicycle ride. In all the students biked more than fifteen snowy miles.
What is winter biking in a word? "Awesome!" "Amazing!" according to the student leaders of Pillsbury Pedal Power. Way to go Afnaan, Hailey, Melissa, Manny, Salmon, Luismario, and Cherica! See the KARE11 story about Pillsbury Pedal Power presenting at the International Winter Cycling Congress.
