Summer Food (SFSP)

Minneapolis Public Schools Culinary and Wellness Services (MPS CWS) is committed to expanding access to food for youth throughout our community - in and out of our schools. We know that it can be challenging for our partnering organizations to provide fresh foods made from scratch with whole ingredients. We are committed to providing meals that support the long term health of all youth - physically, mentally, and academically.

MPS CWS partners with the following community organizations in Minneapolis and its bordering suburbs:

  • Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
  • Hennepin County Libraries
  • Faith Based Organizations
  • Out-of-School-Time Care Providers
  • Community Centers
  • Day Camps
  • Tutoring Centers
  • Sports Teams
  • Charter Schools

With the help of the USDA and partnering community organizations, MPS CWS sponsored almost One Million no-cost meals via the 2019 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the 2018-2019 Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Providing no-cost meals has allowed our community partners to focus their resources back into their programs, paying competitive wages to community based youth workers, and deepening their bonds with the youth that they serve.
