Active Recess is an approach designed to both increase physical activity levels of students during recess as well as decrease incidents of behavior on the playground. The key tenets of Active Recess are that all kids actively participate in a variety of playground activities, and recess supervisors employ the positive and proactive approaches of Systematic Supervision.
  • Physical Benefits Help your students reach the daily recommended 60 minutes of physical activity and avoid possible health problems, such as obesity, underdeveloped muscles and poor coordination. Center for Disease Control, Department of Adolescent and School Health
  • Cognitive Benefits Did you know that physical activity is miracle grow for the brain? Researchers have found an association between physical fitness and the brain in 9 - and 10 -year old children:  Those who are more fit tend to have a bigger hippocampus and perform better on a test of memory than their less fit peers. Journal of Brain Research, September 1010
