Minneapolis and St. Paul public schools launched a partnership to put more fresh, local foods onto lunchroom menus in September.
The Sept. 4 meal for students in both districts included grass-fed, all-beef hot dogs from Thousand Hills Cattle Company (Cannon Falls), buns from Pan-O-Gold Bakery (St. Cloud), cucumbers from Gardens of Eagan (Northfield), corn on the cob from Pahl Farms (Apple Valley) and watermelon from Riverside Farms (Elk River). The entire meal was sourced from producers located within about a 75-mile radius of the Twin Cities.
