The second annual Farm to School Community BBQ on September 26th, 2013 was a big success! Over 800 students, families, staff and community members joined us for an evening of good food and fun. There were plenty of free-range turkey burgers and grass-fed beef hot dogs to go around. Kids raced veggie racecars, pet baby goats, met local farmers, had their faces painted, and participated in other fun activities. The highlight of the evening was the Corn Shucking Contest. MPS students partnered with VIP guests, like MPS Superintendent Bernedeia Johnson, MN Commissioner of Education Brenda Cassellius, and former Olympian Carrie Tollefson to shuck corn the fastest!
We hope you join us for the third annual Farm to School Community BBQ next fall!
