Smart Snacks In Schools
New USDA standards for snack food and beverages sold to children at school during the school day. Requried by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, school will offer healthier snack foods to children, while limiting junk food. Click here to learn more!
Frest Fruit and Vegetable Program
MPS distributes over 1,748,600 FFVP snacks to our students each school year!
FFVP provides elementary students with free fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day. Introducing new produce and creating conversation on items in season.

MPS introduces 10 new food items to students in 2016/2017 school year!
33 MPS schools have school gardens providing opportunity for hands-on learning and exposure to new fruits and vegetables.
5 garden to cafeteria programs are established teaching students how to grow and harvest along with knowledge on food safety. The produce grown goes directly into the school's salad bar.
